Artemis was Great Olympian goddess of hunting, wilderness,and wild animals. she was also the goddess of childbirth,and protectress of the girl child up to marriage. her twin brother Apollon was similarly the protector of the boy child. Together the two gods were also bringers of sudden death and disease--Artemis targetted women and girls, In ancient art Artemis was usually depicted as a girl dressed in a short knee-length chiton and equipped with a hunting bow and quiver of arrows. Artemis was the Moon Goddess, responsible for the movement of the Moon across the night sky.She liked to hike across the mountains and roam the woodlands with her band of nymphs and her three hunting dogs.Artemis carried a silver bow and arrows and she herself appeared to be silver like moonlight.She moved the Moon in a chariot pulled by stags.Artemis never missed with her bow and she also had healing powers.
